Reading Quiz on Chapter 21, "Memorizing."
Reviewed concept of "unit memorization" as superior to "rote memorization," and reviewed the reasons this is so.

Discussed concept of "topping"--lines building to peaks of comic or emotional intensity.
Discussed concept of emotional shifts--places where the emotional content of lines makes a sudden, dramatic change.

Students re-read "Here We Are," looking for three biggest peaks in the script for each character.
Groups read through play together, discussing and marking peaks and shifts.
 

DUE DATES

FRIDAY, March 20 read Chapter 21, "Memorizing."  
FRIDAY, March 27 present blocking demonstration of "Here We Are."
FRIDAY, April 3: Perform "Here We Are."  (MUST BE OFF BOOK!)
